A premium penetrating sealer is applied to the grout joints providing resistance to water, oil and general contaminants. This service is highly recommended for newly grouted or regrouted floors and is also very popular for kitchen splash-backs and bathroom wet areas.
Stainguarding does not alter the appearance of the grout, the sealer is invisible to the naked eye, sitting just below the surface. It prevents contaminants from penetrating into the grout pores.
What guarantee do you offer with stainguarding?
No guarantees are applicable to stainguarding.
It is important to realise that a sealer is not an impenetrable barrier – it provides reaction time to deal with spills. Unsealed grout can stain immediately, whereas sealed grout is stain resistant and can have a reaction time of up to 4-5 hours.
What guarantee do you offer with the epoxy colourant?
The epoxy colourant comes with an 8 year warranty against peeling, chipping, cracking or fading.
What products do you use?
We use premium sealers from leading industry suppliers including Spirit and Aquamix products as appropriate.
Does stainguarding / recolouring my grout make it maintenance free?
No, grout requires regular maintenance and anyone that tells you otherwise is either lying or misinformed!
If you have your carpet Scotchguarded™ you would not assume that you have to vacuum less frequently, likewise if you have your grout sealed (stainguarded or recoloured) do not assume that you have to clean / maintain it less frequently!
Grout is often the lowest point on a tiled surface which results in dirt, grime and other contaminants collecting there – particularly in high traffic areas / walk ways. Regular and thorough cleaning with the correct products and equipment will be required to keep grout looking good.
How do I maintain my grout after it has been stainguarded / recoloured?
The technician who carries out your grout sealing will be able to offer maintenance advice specific to your tiled area. In all cases, avoid the use of harsh chemicals which will decrease the life expectancy of the sealers.
Stainguarded Grout -We recommend regular cleaning with a ph neutral cleaner or a microfibre cloth.
Recoloured Grout - As a general rule, we recommend the use of a mild cleaner (such as Spirit “Neutral Cleaner”), at least weekly, to maintain your recoloured grout and tiled floors. Tiles with a textured surface may benefit from the use of a doodlebug rather than a mop for a more effective clean.
Also, when mopping, make sure to change your water frequently, otherwise all you achieve is to spread dirty water around your floors!
